Electeds Prepare for a Drought-Ridden Future

Mission

We flew Senator Bennet, Deputy Secretary of the Interior Beaudreau, BOR Commissioner Touton, and others to view the extreme drought conditions facing Colorado’s Western Slope.

This flight gave Colorado and national leaders a big-picture perspective of the region’s water, and allowed conversation surrounding how we can prepare for a future with less water. Following the flight, Bennet, Beaudreau, and Touton visited with Colorado water users, namely farmers and grazers, to discuss climate change-fueled drought challenges. This information was critical to determine how to allocate the $4 billion (from the Inflation Reduction Act) to address drought throughout Colorado's Western Slope.
