Mission
Bring to life the goals of the Upper Verde Wild and Scenic River proposal: to safeguard the river’s clean water, wildlife habitat, cultural sites, and recreational access—without infringing on private land or existing water rights.
Explore one of Arizona’s most ecologically and culturally significant landscapes from the air with Representative Selina Bliss, Senator Ruben Gallego, the Yavapai-Apache Nation, conservationists, and officials from the Town of Camp Verde and Town of Cottonwood.
We traced the river’s path from Cottonwood Airport upstream to Sullivan Dam, and over the side canyons of Sycamore Creek and Granite Creek. The Upper Verde supports life in so many forms, from the verdant riparian corridors and rare gallery forests to ancestral cultural sites and critical wildlife habitat.
The proposed Wild and Scenic designation does not impact private property or existing water rights, but it does offer long-term protections for the river’s free-flowing character, water quality, and Outstandingly Remarkable Values.
