Due to a change in the U.S. Senate’s vote schedule, Sen. John Hickenlooper has postponed two listening sessions to hear public input on a proposal to create a national monument in the Dolores River region of Mesa and Montrose counties.

The vote schedule was changed so the Senate can consider legislation passed by the House of Representatives providing aid to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan.

Sessions had been scheduled for Monday in Grand Junction and Tuesday in Naturita. The Grand Junction session is now scheduled for Saturday at 10:30 a.m. The meeting venue also has been changed. It will be held at Colorado Mesa University’s William S. Robinson Theatre, 1299 N. 12th St., Grand Junction. Doors will open at 10 a.m.

The Naturita event will be held Friday at 3:30 p.m. The location will be the Old Naturita Elementary School Gymnasium, 141 W. Main St.

Hickenlooper’s office has been taking RSVPs for the events at Eventbrite. It asks that those who registered but can’t attend the rescheduled events cancel their tickets. No action is needed in the case of those who already registered and plan to attend a rescheduled event.
