About the Position
EcoFlight is looking for a part-time contract photo editor who cares about the environment and wants to be part of a small team that brings a unique perspective to conservation throughout the West. This position is semi-remote, 5-20 hours per week, and the editing can be done from anywhere as long as the editor is available to occasionally visit the Aspen, CO office. The role mostly consists of basic editing in Lightroom, geotagging photos using a GPX file, and organizing photos within our archive.
EcoFlight is a small, nimble organization that responds quickly to ecological threats and significantly amplifies efforts to protect important landscapes, using small aircraft. We provide educational aerial tours in Cessna 210 airplanes for conservation initiatives in all Western states. From the air, we connect stakeholders with differing viewpoints to advance our goals of conservation and environmental justice. Since we cannot fly everybody, a key piece of our work is photo and video production. We capture high-quality images on all flights and distribute them free of charge to press, partners, and anyone who requests them.
Role:
- Edit, tag, and organize aerial photos taken from EcoFlight’s missions across the West
- Manage storage and backups to maintain an organized archive
- Geotag photos using a GPX file and create interactive photo maps using HoudahGeo
- Name and tag photos based on their location throughout the West
- This job may require some work on weekends and outside of regular hours; workload will vary week-to-week
Qualifications:
- Expert in Adobe Lightroom
- Ability to work collaboratively in a small team, communicate frequently, and accept feedback
- Strong attention to detail, and motivation to produce high-quality work
Bonus Qualifications:
- Passionate about conservation and western landscapes
- Previous experience with HoudahGeo
- Previous experience with photo database management
- General knowledge of western U.S. geography and ability to identify locations on a map
Compensation:
$1000-$3,000 per month, depending on experience, workload, and specifics of the role
