Tahoe Roadless Areas with Congressmembers

Date: 09/17/2025     State: CA     Issues: Urban Planning, Wild Lands, Wildlife     Partners: Sierra Nevada Alliance, Tahoe Backcountry Alliance, Tahoe Resource Conservation District Airport Origin : Truckee, CA

Mission

Fly the stunning roadless areas of the Tahoe region with congressmembers and their staffers to educate on the importance of preserving the 2001 Roadless Rule as the Trump Administration attempts to revoke the important legislation.

From the alpine peaks near Granite Chief to the meadows and watersheds along Tahoe’s West and South Shores, these undeveloped lands shape the Basin’s natural character, recreation, and clean water. These wild, connected landscapes are more than scenic - they’re essential to the clarity of Lake Tahoe, the vitality of its wildlife habitat, and the quality of life for surrounding communities. Yet, proposed rollbacks to the Roadless Rule could open these very places to fragmentation and development, putting at risk the values that define Tahoe.

Thank you to our passengers for joining EcoFlight to see what’s at stake from the air. The participation of our elected leaders helps ensure that the conversations shaping the future of these lands are informed by perspective. Together, we can keep Tahoe’s roadless areas whole, resilient, and wild.
