Badger-Two Medicine Area

Date: 07/14/2020     State: MT     Issue: Oil and Gas     Partner: Glacier-Two Medicine Alliance

Mission

The Badger-Two Medicine is a 165,000 acre area in the heart of the Crown of the Continent. Bounded by Glacier National Park and the Blackfeet Reservation, with wilderness to the west and south, it is the connective habitat between Glacier National Park and the Bob Marshall Wilderness and the Blackfeet Reservation. The area is a Traditional Cultural District because of its religious and cultural significance to the Blackfeet Nation.
Home range and a crucial habitat link for grizzly bears, wolverines, and westslope cutthroat trout, the Badger is also the headwaters of two drainages, Badger Creek and the South Fork Two Medicine River. Together, these two drainages water the Reservation and the northern plains of Montana.

The Blackfeet Tribe and our conservation partners have been working for decades to protect the Badger-Two Medicine Area from oil and gas drilling.
