Mission
Flights over areas within the Desert Renewable Energy Conservation Plan with Backcountry Hunters and Anglers engaged the sporting community on issues pertaining to the DRECP. Flights informed local and state hunters that the DRECP is vital to maintaining public access and wildlife and habitat protections.
The Desert Renewable Energy Conservation Plan is envisioned to both protect irreplaceable desert habitats, plants, animals and ecological processes and allow for the development of a significant amount of centralized renewable energy by focusing on wildlife habitat protection when siting development.
The DRECP process is vital to maintaining public access, wildlife and habitat protections. With increasing pressures from energy and mining development, increasing OHV use and growing visitation, it is important for hunting, fishing and conservation communities to be aware of the process and. By being practical and foresighted, these communities can help avoid devastating impacts to fish and wildlife habitat and our outdoor pursuits by engaging in the process and influencing responsible renewable energy development policies.
