Mission
Educate conservation partners with a bird's-eye view of the expansive region to better inform what efforts can be taken to preserve and improve wildlife habitat.
Beaverhead County encompasses Red Rock Lakes Wildlife Refuge, the Tendoy Mountains, and the headwaters of the Missouri River. The region hosts remarkable wildlife habitat ad scenic values, and is home to endangered native cutthroat trout and Arctic grayling. Trout Unlimited (TU) and Montana Trout Unlimited (MTU) are working extensively in Beaverhead County to protect fish and enhance wildlife habitat.
The groups are working in Red Rock Lakes Wildlife Refuge to restore healthy Arctic grayling habitat by providing oxygenated water to the deeper parts of the lakes within the Refuge. This is a critical step to provide winter habitat to fish.
The Lima-Tendoy landscape includes multiple federal land designations and stakeholder groups. TU and MTU, in unison with a collaborative of local citizens and groups, are advocating for specific management actions to protect this region of scattered federal land parcels.
