Mission

Fly with water managers and town leaders in Snowmass, along with the Roaring Fork Conservancy and the Environment Foundation of Aspen SkiCo, viewing critical streams that supply water to Snowmass Village.

Our overflight examined three streams in the Snowmass area that feed the Roaring Fork Watershed. We flew above East Snowmass Creek which provides about 96% of the water for Snowmass Village. This water is not only critical for the Roaring Fork Valley, but for the entire Colorado River Basin, which supports 40 million people. Our local watershed is an important headwater to the Colorado River, contributing about ten percent of the river's annual flow.

Our partners are working to reduce overconsumption and preserve this special watershed for the continued wellbeing of the Roaring Fork Valley, its visitors, and all who rely on the Colorado River.
