Wildlife Crossings in Dubois

Date: 05/24/2024     State: WY     Issues: Urban Planning, Wildlife     Partners: Greater Yellowstone Coalition, Jackson Hole Land Trust, The Wilderness Society, Wyoming Wilderness Association Airport Origin : Dubois, WY

Mission

Increase support and provide the aerial perspective to Wyoming Senator Cale Case and conservationists over Highway 26, where efforts are mounting to construct wildlife crossings over Highway 26.

We flew from Dubois over Highway 26 where our partners are working to reduce wildlife-vehicle collisions and conserve land for wildlife corridors. The implementation of wildlife crossing structures and preserving migration corridors can significantly reduce wildlife-vehicle collisions, by 80-90%, creating a safer environment for motorists and wildlife, like mule deer, pronghorn, elk, and countless smaller critters. Studies have found that around three-fourths of crashes in the project area result from wildlife-vehicle collisions.

Thank you to those who joined us for this overflight for being a part of the conversation to protect people and our wildlife.
